Landscape Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Peaks Autumn

The peaks autumn theme needed no invention, only honest painting, and this landscape scroll painting delivers it. The ink settles into the silk with a softness that keeps every edge gentle. As a piece of asian wall decor, it reads clearly from across the room and keeps giving on closer inspection.

Autumn colors the scene, warm against the ink's cool restraint. Water moves slowly through the picture, a horizontal counterpoint to the peaks. Mountains gather in the upper reaches of the scroll, dissolving into pale wash. The discipline of wash painting shows in every controlled gradation. Soft veils of mist knit the separate elements into one breathing scene. With the houses, the scene gains a lived-in quality that rewards slow looking. The pine bark is worked in rough, honest strokes, full of age. Against the silk ground, the village reads clearly at any distance. The peaks motif is worked into the composition with classical restraint.

Hung in a study or living room, this traditional chinese wall art changes the room's temperature without raising its voice. It is art for the long haul, not the season. It has the calm of something that will never go out of style.
