Eagle Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Rock Mountain

In this eagle scroll painting, the rock mountain theme is handled with unhurried confidence. The brushwork stays fluid and economical, carrying the forms with a minimum of fuss. As a piece of asian wall decor, it reads clearly from across the room and keeps giving on closer inspection.

Mountains gather in the upper reaches of the scroll, dissolving into pale wash. The rock is modeled with textured strokes, pitted and convincing. The silk drinks the ink unevenly, and the painter has used that to the picture's advantage. The silk ground itself becomes part of the image, its sheen softening every edge. The eye is led, never pushed, from one part of the scene to the next.

Hung in a study or living room, this traditional chinese wall art changes the room's temperature without raising its voice. It rewards the patient viewer, and patience is what such art teaches. It sits as happily in a modern loft as in a traditional study.
